what’s up guys it’s me jeremy. we’vetalked a lot about champions that were officially scrapped or concepts that the community hascreated themselves, but riot themselves have also hinted at future champions based on nichesthat either haven’t been explored or are just kinda missing something so far. mostof these concepts are coming from riot ezreal, and anything that has an official rioter commenthas at least some level of potential to be

design rumah minimalis, revived in the future, at least more so thanjust something the community has suggested. as always if you like the video hit that likebutton, if not then hit the dislike, and let’s get started. first up is a new ascended champion. riotthermalkitten mentioned that due to the return
of azir and the rise of the sun disc, it opensup a spot in the lore for new ascended champions. it’s pretty much open to interpretationabout what kind of ascended champion we could see next, but we can speculate from lookingat the current lineup. the ascended champions are godlike animals with human features, allcoming from shurima, with the exception of xerath who became a being of pure energy.most of their abilities are at least partially magical, with the exception of renekton whois a bit more physical focused. we can probably guess from this that the next ascended championwill also have some kind of magical ability. if riot want to spread the ascended championtype to other roles, then it’s quite likely to be either a bot laner or jungler as sofar they don’t see much if any player in
those roles. although they aren’t ascended, sivir, skarner and rammus are all from shurima and they fill the jungler and ad carry roles,so it’s actually most likely that we might seen an ascended shuriman as a support. thisalso fits in pretty well with a magical focus as most supports are magic based, and justvary by being ranged or melee. ascended champions all have pretty strong crowd control abilities, and this is something that is well suited to the support role too. a champion that riot ezreal said he wantedto make was a champion that could create permanent stealth wards that were visible by particleeffects but needed stealth detection to kill. the interesting part is that the championwould be able to fire his spells using the
ward as a basis point, so he could for examplefire a ranged nuke either himself or from any of his wards. this would be true for allother cast types, like player-based area of effect spells would be castable around hiswards rather than around himself. seperately ezreal mentioned that he wanted to do magemonsters in the future, and maybe even a stealth-based monster, so it’s possible that these twoideas could kinda merge and end up giving us a stealth-based monster that uses wardsas a way to attack enemies. this is pretty cool and unexplored design space for the mostpart, the only other champion that can make a ‘ward’ is teemo but teemo can’t reallyinteract with his mushrooms outside of enemies walking over and detonating them. a championbased around using wards would probably work
best in either mid lane or as a support, soit’ll be interesting to see where this champion ends up in terms of a main role if riot actuallygo ahead with this idea and create their stealthy monster mage. next up some kind of polarity based champion.we can only really guess what ezreal meant by that, but he mentioned it while answeringa question about lightning-based champions so it’s pretty likely he’s talking aboutmagnetic poles, and the polarity could be about directing electrical fields to lockdown or burst out enemies. ezreal also mentioned that this could be a hexmage, so potentiallysomeone that debuffs enemies rather than killing them or cc’ing them outright. honestly debuffsare actually kinda rare in league so far,
the most common are things like armor shreddingor grievous wounds. there’s quite a lot of unexplored territory here, so it’s prettycool to try think up electrical-based abilities that could debuff enemies through their shocks, maybe doing interesting things like temporarily reducing their total ability power ratherthan just flat out cutting damage dealt like exhaust does. in quite a lot of other games, electric magic saps power away from a target, so a hexmage that could drain your mana couldbe really awesome and useful for some clutch plays to deny a key ultimate while still fittingthe archetype. the big problem with something like that is it’d be kinda annoying to playagainst and riot definitely try and avoid gameplay that feels really bad for the victim.still, there’s more ways to make the hexmage
work and we definitely have room for morelightning or just general electric-type champions in general. one of the more requested champions is fora doppelganger, a champion that clones an ally or enemy and basically uses their sameabilities and stats. this would be a pretty game altering addition, but again it couldbe really frustrating to play against. riot mentioned that they actually had plans fora champion like this at once point but actually decided against it because it would damagethe new user experience by being way too confusing. it opens up some new strategies and wouldneed a ton of balance testing to limit what the doppelganger could do - for example, agood idea for making it work is to let the
doppelganger clone a champion with it’sultimate and then use their basic abilities but not ultimate. this would lead to reallycool team compositions where it's set up so that the doppelganger could copy a championon the allied team that has really powerful basic abilities, or it could even be usedas a counterpick to deal with something similar on the enemy team. there are quite a few championsin the game that are strong without their ultimates such as blitzcrank for example, and being able to have two rocket grabs ready to fire off would be cool, although probablykinda unhealthy for the game. that’s only one way to make the doppelganger work though, and there’s probably a ton of ways to do it. one problem could be whether it wouldhave a kit that works at times where you don’t
want to copy a champion, or would it be prettymuch forced to clone someone at all times? a little bit less complex to figure out mechanicallybut just as difficult to create would be for a champion with a permanent pet. i talkedabout this a little in a previous video but it was worth mentioning on this list as ezrealmentioned that this is something they would 100% do once it could be properly supportedby the game. riot mentioned that they are working on pet ai and they don’t want torelease a passive pet champion until the ai has improved, and that’s why we haven’treally seen anything like it so far. they didn’t give us any clues as to what to expectthough, so it’s kinda hard to speculate but the core idea would be a pet that willintelligently do what you want and probably
interact with your abilities in some way, rather than being totally dependent on you controlling or summoning it manually, suchas orianna’s ‘pet’ ball or malzahar’s voidlings. ezreal did also mention that hewants a perfect multi pet control or clone system, inspired by phantom lancer from dota.if that’s the case, it would definitely be cool to see champions like shaco or malzaharto be reworked to have more control over those pets, maybe even the ability to micro themall seperately. multiple unit management is definitely something missing from league sofar, and although it’s definitely tricky pull off, it’s really rewarding for playerswho take the time to master it. riot meddler also commented on the possibility of a championwith a more significant pet. he mentioned
that although the current system is fine forstraightforward pets like tibbers, it wouldn’t support constant pets that have their ownpersonal skillsets so it’s unlikely we’d see a champion like this for a while. developingan entire new control system takes a lot of time, and figuring out the right way to introduceit to the game with a champion that properly suits it will take even longer. that wraps up the list of official championconcepts that could exist in the future, riot are usually pretty tight lipped about futurereleases so these sneak peeks are pretty exciting to think about. make sure you leave us a commentletting us know which concept you think would be the most awesome in game! and it lookslike that’s gonna be it from me, if you
enjoyed the video drop a like, subscribe ifyou want, thanks for watching, and i’ll see you guys next time!
