interior decorator

hi, i'm ann myrick, and today, we're goingto talk about how to use old, inherited items. i am a decorator, and i work with what peoplehave. and many, many times, some of my greatest things that i have found and put as a focalpoint in somebody's house is an old piece that they inherited from a grandparent orfrom an aunt and uncle, and they didn't want to throw it away because there is memories,but they just threw it in the attic or the

interior decorator, garage because they didn't know what to dowith it. and i'm just going to show you just a few ideas. these are old pipes, and i loveusing just sitting around one or two pipes. this is an uncle that was very special tome, and so in the midst of the pipe, it's also very special to me. it brings back alot of memories. and so you could...on a stack

of books, you could put a pipe like this andjust have one or two pipes. or what i've done is just on this old, rusted angel, i've justset the pipes up there to show. i love using contrast, and so don't worry, a lot of times,if it...if it's something that's old and new or something that's rusted but then also verydifferent. sometimes it really looks more interesting to put them together. this wasan old bread basket of my family's and it's been with me forever. i've put it on the wall.i've put pens and pencils in it. i've used it for files. so i've used it in many ways,and i just threw a little bit of yarrow in it just to have some color. but this basket,i've used it tons of ways, and it...again, it's a memory. these are just little, inexpensivetins that my mother had. she was a baker,

and she...it brings back so many memorieswhen i see these. and just a fun way to use these would be if you have...and probablythis would work more for a woman, if you have a desk or a little area where you need somepaper clips and some rubber bands. you can just, instead of going and getting your normalplastic, little container, you could just fill them up with...fill these up in yourkitchen, at your kitchen desk or whatever. these rubber bands aren't coming out. butso you could put rubber bands, paper clips, and just...there's so many fun things thatyou could use, so just go hunting in your house and see what you come up with. thisis ann myrick, and that is how to use inherited items.
